A. Peter Benware, 82 of Hooksett, died, at Catholic Medical Center, March 19, 2018 following a brief illness, surrounded by his family. He was born in Brattleboro Vt., son of Leon J. and Gladys A. (Labatt) Benware. He was educated in Brattleboro before joining the Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Peter owned and operated West River Paint and Wallpaper Center in Brattleboro, VT for many years.
Peter loved being outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, and hunting big game in Montana and Vermont. He enjoyed Sunday drives with his family and antique cars. He liked organic gardening, telling jokes, and playing cards. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Family members include his wife of 41 years, Maureen A. (Paquette) Benware of Hooksett, five daughters, Jane Ballou of Templeton, MA, Pamela Colman of S. Paris, ME, Shelly Mattson of Marlboro NH, Davita LeClerc of Hooksett, and Christine Blezard of Lee, NH; six Grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one sister, Doris Ann Momaney.
A shared funeral ceremony with his brother-in-law, David Lariviere was held on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester. Burial with military honors for Peter took place on Monday, March 26, 2018 at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen NH.
