A. William Sorge

A. William "Bill" Sorge, 65, of Bedford, died suddenly November 10, 2015 while vacationing in Queenstown, New Zealand.

He was born in Cranford, NJ on April 20, 1950 to Herbert and Dawn (O'Dell) Sorge.

During the Vietnam era he served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee. He later graduated from NH Vocational Technical College in Nashua where he was valedictorian and from UMass-Lowell where he earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.

Bill worked as an electrical engineer with Nashua Corporation in Nashua and Merrimack and with Osram Sylvania in Manchester. He enjoyed traveling, politics, camping and fishing. He will be remembered as being a kind and loving husband, step father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and trusted friend.

He was predeceased by his parents and by three siblings, Gladys, Linda and Virginia Dawn Sorge.

The family includes his wife of ten years, Linda (Montgomery) Sorge of Bedford; two step children, Frank Shattuck and his wife, Wendy, of Nashua and Blake Shattuck and his wife, Lisa Ann, of Manchester; three grandchildren, Tori Lynn, Jake and Kelly Shattuck; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; three siblings, Richard Sorge and his wife, Ellen, Barbara DeSanto and her husband, Thomas, John Sorge and his wife, Jan, and nieces and nephews, all from New Jersey.

A funeral ceremony was held on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester. Committal prayers with military honors followed at Bedford Center Cemetery on Church Road in Bedford.
