Albert Card, 83, died December 23, 2008, after a period of declining health. Born in Manchester on April 1, 1925, he was the son of Arthur E. and Agnes (Callahan) Card and was a resident of Bedford and Hampton.

He was veteran of World War II and the Korean War. During World War II, he served in the 2nd Marine Division and was present aboard the USS Mississippi in Tokyo Bay during the surrender and occupation of Japan.

Mr. Card was a graduate of Manchester West High School, class of 1943 and Tilton School, class of 1947. While attending University of New Hampshire, he served as Cadet Colonel of the ROTC. Upon graduation from UNH in 1951, he received a regular commission with the United States Air Force. During his service, he was a professor of Air Science at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. After his military service, he returned to Manchester and was vice president of William G. Parker Insurance Co. until his retirement in 1987.

Members of his family include his wife of 57 years, Isabel (Legenc) Card of Bedford, a son Christopher J. Card of Hampton, a daughter, Kathy M. Card and her husband Larry Gagnon of Bedford, and two grandchildren, Hannah and Max Gagnon of Bedford; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Arthur J. and Eugene Card.

A Memorial service was held at the Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory 1799 Elm St. on Saturday June 13, 2009 in the funeral home chapel. Burial followed in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Cathedral General Fund, 166 Pearl Street, Manchester, NH 03104
