Albert G. Normand

d. May 20, 2012

Albert G. Normand, 88, of Bedford, died peacefully, May 20, 2012,

surrounded by his loving family, following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Berwick ME in 1923, the last of nine children, to

Henry and Laura Normand. He grew up on the family farm in Somersworth

where he developed his great appreciation and love for the outdoors

and hard work.

Al served as a medic in the Army Air Force during World War II. He was

stationed in Newfoundland, and tended to the needs of returning

wounded soldiers. Following his honorable discharge, he made his home

in Hartford CT. There, he established his business as a self-employed

building contractor, married, and raised five children. He built

homes, apartments, and condominiums throughout Connecticut, Florida,

and finally in New Hampshire, where he moved his family in 1972.

Al loved gardening, and spending long hours outdoors taking care of

his own well-manicured lawn. He enjoyed camping with his children,

cruising the Mediterranean, and Panama Canal, visiting relatives and

hosting family reunions, and special events at his home pool. He

dissolved his business in 1998 and continued with part-time construction with

his sons and some landscape work with a family friend.

Family members include his wife of 62 years Theresa Normand; his

children, Richard Normand and his wife Dorothy, of Goffstown, Diane

Normand of Bedford, Irene Saidel of New Boston, Gail Sokol, and her

husband John of Deering, Roland Normand of Bedford; 6 grandchildren,

grand daughter, Liliana; a sister, Florina Bassiliere, of Newburyport;

a sister in-law, Jeanne Normand, of Bedford, several nieces, nephews

and cousins; many friends; and two very dearly loved and faithful dogs,
