Albert T. Sheppard

November 7, 1931 — January 1, 2013

Albert T. Sheppard, 81, of Bedford, died peacefully on January 1, 2013, at Bedford Hills, after a brief illness.

He was born in Everett, MA on November 7, 1931, son of the late Catherine and Frederick Sheppard.

Following graduation from Everett High School, he served with the 7th Division in the Korean War. Upon returning, he attended and graduated from Burdett College and Suffolk University. He married his wife, Sandra, on August 30, 1957 and resided in Everett. He was very active in local politics, serving as a Councilman, Alderman and Fire Commissioner. He was employed as a National Account Manager for Xerox Corp. until his retirement. Since the early days of his marriage he owned a home in Lake Shore Park, on Lake Winnipesaukee, in Gilford, NH and he was one of the original 13 members who negotiated the purchase of Lake Shore Park, serving on the first Board of Directors. In 1975 his employment brought him to NH where he lived in Hooksett until 1989. In 1986 he suffered a massive stroke, and despite having his mobility restricted, he lived a full life. From 1989 through 2005 he enjoyed spending the winters in Bradenton, Florida and the summers at Lake Shore Park in Gilford. In 2006 he decided to stay in NH full time and he and his wife moved to River Walk in Bedford.

Throughout his life he enjoyed spending time with family and friends discussing politics, sports, and business. His knowledge of all these areas was extensive. He was very successful at his job and always enjoyed going to work. He loved to spend time at Lake Shore Park swimming and boating in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter. While in Florida, he served on the Board of Directors in his community. In Bedford he loved his life at River Walk and was very active serving on the Board of Directors. His greatest love though was for his family. Helping his children and grandchildren was important to him and in so many ways he displayed this love and caring.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra; two sons, Albert Sheppard, and wife Monica, of Concord, NH and Kevin Sheppard of Manchester, NH; two daughters, Kathleen Landroche, and husband Patrick, of Manchester, NH and Lisa Werner of Manchester, NH; and his six grandchildren, Jennifer, Samantha, Hilary, Patrick, Eric and Alison.

The funeral service will be private.
