Alena J. Courtemanche

Alena J. Courtemanche, 76, of Manchester died on August 7, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer.

Born in Sommerville, MA on August 25, 1945, later moving to Barnstead, NH and finally Manchester, NH where she was a graduate of Central High School and married Paul Courtemanche. At the time of her passing, Alena had been working for Townsend Energy (formerly M.L. Halle) for about 30 years.  In 1972, she and her late husband Paul purchased Horace Appliance which they ran together before selling it in 1988.

Alena enjoyed reading and her time spent at the lake absorbed in her books.  She also enjoyed watching cooking shows and shopping on QVC and Amazon.  Her family was what was most important to her.  Above all else she will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Alena was predeceased by the love of her life, husband of 56 years, Paul G. Courtemanche, Sr., in July 2021, her sister Marilou Strickland in 2020, and her mother Mary (Murphy) DeRoche in 1998.

Surviving family includes her two sons, Paul G. Courtemanche, Jr. and wife Bai of Manchester and Timothy J. Courtemanche and wife Dianna of Manchester; one grandson, Alec C. Courtemanche and wife Samantha of Manchester; two great grandchildren, Alistair and Marie Jane; and four siblings, Robert Strickland, Judy Golden, Helen Lamontagne and Audrey Tilden; and many nieces and nephews. 

SERVICES:  Calling hours are Monday from 4 pm to 7pm at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North St., Manchester, NH 03104.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday at St. Anthony of Padua, 172 Belmont St., Manchester.  Committal prayers to follow in the mausoleum at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to:  American Cancer Society NH Chapter, 360 Route 101, Ste. 8, Bedford, NH 03110.
