Alfred Bodi

d. November 10, 2015

Alfred Bodi, 92, of Manchester, died November 10, 2015 at Catholic Medical Center following a brief illness but a long robust life.

He was born in Boston, MA and was the son of Marino and Alice (DeAngelis) Bodi. He grew up in Boston and later relocated with his young family to New Hampshire in Pembroke. Later in life he lived in Manchester for many years.

During World War II he proudly served in the U.S. Navy as part of the Armed Guard and was honorably discharged at the rank of Petty Officer.

Al, as he was fondly known, worked in the printing business. He began his lithography career with Boston Offset in Boston, MA, which later became known as Concord Litho Company following the company's relocation to the Granite State. After more than 50 years of service with the company in various positions he retired as Vice President and General Manager.

Al was a voracious reader and well versed in the world's current events. He was also an American history buff as well as an enthusiastic fan of Boston's pro sports teams. He was a highly skilled, self-taught calligrapher who enjoyed creating intricate, hand printed designs on cards of all types, which he regularly sent to family and friends throughout the year in celebration of holidays and special events.

Al was known for his good humor and friendly but very acerbic and irreverent wit. He was a "bigger than life" presence, physically and intellectually, respected for his keen but fair business practices and genuine kindness toward others.

He was respected, revered and loved unconditionally by his sons and their families.

Al's family includes his former wife and lifelong companion, Teresa (Dolan) Bodi, now of Bedford; five beloved sons, Dale and his wife, Jacqueline, of Hampton, Alfred and his wife, Christine, of Bedford, Brian and his wife, Brenda, of Concord, Mark and his wife, Marie, of Portsmouth and Steven and his wife, Maura, of West Palm Beach, FL; seven grandchildren, Brian Bodi Jr., Shawn Bodi, McCall Gosselin, Deirdre Bodi, Brendan Bodi, Evan Bodi and Andrew Bodi; five great grandchildren, Lindsay Bodi, Caitlin Bodi, Piper Gosselin, Bodi Gosselin and Asher Bodi; a sister, Emma DeSantis of Melrose, MA and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by four siblings, Luigi Bodi, Guido Bodi, Geraldine Bodi and Pelmet Cirignano.

SERVICES: Per Al's wishes, services are private with interment at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, at the convenience of the family.
