Alfred L. Bourque, 91, of Manchester, died September 1, 2006 at the Elliot hospital.
He was born in St. Elie d'Orford, Quebec, on September 8, 1914, the son of Alphonse and Clara (Nadeau) Bourque. During WWII, he served in the US Navy.
Prior to retirement, he was co-owner and operator of Bourque Oil for many years.
Mr. Bourque was a member of the YMCA as well as being an avid badminton player. He also enjoyed keeping horses and horseback riding. He was a former member of the American Legion and member of the League of 1000 Men of the Monastery of the Precious Blood.
He was a parishioner of St. Anthony Church.
Members of his family include his wife of 69 years, Gertrude A. (Charest) Bourque of Manchester; one daughter, Mrs. Edward (Anita I.) Szelog of Manchester; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Cecile Bourque and Violette Garon of Manchester; nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Anthony Church on Tuesday September 5, 2006. Committal prayers and burial were in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
