Born in Manchester on October 22, 1932, he was the son of Alfred and Margaret (Hickey) Cantin. He was educated in the local school system and served as a paratrooper in the US Army.
Prior to retirement, Alfred had been employed by Waumbec Mills for many years.
He enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and spending time with his friends at the Alpine Club.
He was predeceased by his siblings Beatrice Duquette, Marguerite Blanchette, Cora Morrell, Rose Cote, Carl Cantin, and Robert Cantin.
Family members include his two sisters, Helen Burpee of Manchester and Ann Simpson of Florida; many nephews, nieces and cousins.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, September 17, 2015 in the chapel of Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, Manchester. Committal prayers and urn burial with military honors followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
