Alfred L. Girard

Alfred L. Girard, 68, of Amherst died April 14, 2005 at Southern Regional Medical Center, Nashua after a brief illness.

Born in Quincy, MA on February 5, 1937, he was the son of Alfred N. and Marguerite (DiBona) Girard. He lived in Amherst for 20 years.

He served in the US Army from 1958 to 1961.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnical Institute in Worcester, MA and a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston, MA.

Mr. Girard was a professor of Information Technology at Southern New Hampshire University, Hooksett for six years. He had previously worked at Raytheon Corporation in Bedford, MA for 25 years.

He was a communicant of St. Marie Church in Manchester.

The family includes his wife of 47 years, Gayle E. (Thayer) Girard of Amherst; seven children, Michael A. Girard of Apopka, FL, Mark S. Girard of Haltom City, TX, Deborah A. Girard of York, SC, David T. Girard of Chelmsford, MA, Ruth A. Mulvey of Merrimack, Elizabeth T. Girard of Manchester and Jennifer H. Girard of Concord; 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two brothers, Stephen P. Girard of Quincy, MA and Robert M. Girard of Hudson; two sisters, Maryann Blair of Hingham, MA and Marguerite M. Saker of Florida; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

IN HIS LIFE: He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday April 18, 2005 in St. Marie Church, 378 Notre Dame Ave., Manchester. Committal prayers followed in Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester. Encryptment was in Mt. Calvary Mausoleum.
