Alfred Goodwin

Alfred Goodwin, 85, of Merrimack, NH died May 12, 2005 at Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH.

Born in Webster, IA on August 14, 1919, he was the son of Earnest and Emily Louise (Moorcroft) Goodwin.

He served in the US Navy for 22 years. During World War II, while stationed at Pearl Harbor, he survived the attack on that base on December 7, 1941.

Mr. Goodwin later served as the prison director at Bridgewater State Penitentiary for 20 years.

He was a member of the Billerica (MA) Lions Club and the Bradenton (FL) Lions Club. He enjoyed traveling, baseball, his cats and attending family and Navy reunions.

He was the widow of Mary Lou (Spears) Goodwin.

The family includes a son, Paul Goodwin of Los Alamitos, CA; two daughters, Frances Norton of Fountain Valley, CA and Carol Attilio of Port Charlotte, FL; one step son, Jerry Healy of Burlington, MA; two step daughters, Linda Darcy of Winchester, MA and Robyn Goinsalvos of Merrimack, NH; 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and three step grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Monday May 16, 2005 in Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North Street, Manchester, NH.
