Alfred J. Lessard

Alfred J. Lessard, 89, of Manchester died April 5, 2007 at Hanover Hill Healthcare Center after a brief illness.

Born in Manchester on January 10, 1918, he was the son of Joseph and Delvina (Senneville) Lessard. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester.

During World War II he served with the Civilian Conservation Corps.

Mr. Lessard worked as a welder at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and the Quincy Naval Shipyard. He later worked at Davison Construction Company and Harvey Construction Company as a member of the Laborers Union Local 668 for many years.

He was a pilot and had owned several small airplanes. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol-Hooksett Squadron for many years and retired as its commander.

Mr. Lessard enjoyed traveling with his wife and mountain climbing in the White Mountains with his son and grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Bertha (Pare) Lessard in 2003 and by a son, Victor Lessard in 2004.

IN HIS LIFE: The family includes two sons, Alfred Lessard Jr. and his wife Eveline of Manchester and Richard W. Lessard and his wife Judy of Hooksett; grandchildren, Michael, Daniel, Donna, Joseph and Vicki and great grandchildren Ryan and Taylor; a sister, Pearl Levasseur of Manchester and nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held Saturday April 7, 2007 in the funeral home. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
