Alfred E. Pouliot, 90, of Manchester, died September 24, 2016 at Epsom Health Care in Epsom after a period of declining health.
He was born in Manchester on December 4, 1925 to Edouard and Laura (Drapeau) Pouliot. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Army as a sharpshooter-expert gunner with the 465th Anti-aircraft Artillery Battalion. He earned several decorations including the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Victory Medal.
Alfred worked at the V.A Medical Center in Manchester for 33 years. In retirement, he worked at St. Anselm College. He was a member of Catholic War Veterans, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Heel & Toe Square Dancers where he was a co-president and historian along with his wife, Rose. He was also an accordion player with the Lone Star Ranch Gang for many years.
The family includes his wife of 61 years, Rose (Laroche) Pouliot of Manchester; three daughters, Jeannette Ellis of Manchester, Irene P. Pouliot of Maryland and Lorraine Cirnigliaro of Manchester; four grandchildren, Doreen Bergeron, Robert Ellis, Reanna Cirnigliaro and Anthony Cirnigliaro; five great grandchildren, Katie, Savannah, Cameron, Laila and Landon; two siblings, Edouard Pouliot of Arizona and Edna Paquin of Nashua; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by five siblings, Eugene Pouliot, Wilfrid Pouliot, Emile Pouliot, Lorraine O'Donnell and Alice Bergeron.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Parish of the Transfiguration, corner of Kelley and Youville streets in Manchester. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
