Alice A. Capowski, 84, of Meredith, died November 1, 2018 after a period of declining health. She was born February 13, 1934 in Hollis, NY and was the daughter of Anchise and Eudora (Cornell) Cirillo.
Alice graduated from the Mary Louis Academy in Jamaica, NY in 1952. She received a Bachelor's Degree from University of Dayton and after having children went back to receive two Master's degrees from Notre Dame College in Manchester. She was a special education teacher for many years, starting in the Manchester and Pembroke school systems and finishing her career in the Chester School District.
She enjoyed knitting, was active politically, serving as the President of the League of Women Voters, and was a proud member of ACLU. Above all, she will be remembered most as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Alice was predeceased by her beloved husband Vincent Capowski in 2008.
Family includes her son Anthony Capowski of Chelmsford, MA; 3 daughters Elizabeth Capowski of Madison, WI, Catherine St. Jean and husband James of Canton, MI, and Wanda O'Brien and husband Michael of North Wildwood, NJ; 7 grandchildren Brian, Steven, Erik, Brian, Vincent, Genevieve, and Michael.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm Street, corner of North St., Manchester.
Alice was a volunteer at Interlake Community Caregivers for a number of years, giving rides to house bound people and frequently taking them for ice cream afterwards. In lieu of flowers donations in Alice's memory may be made to: Interlake Community Caregivers PO Box 78 Center Harbor, NH 03226.
