Almaz Ashooh, 81, of Manchester died peacefully at home on May 18, 2021.
Born in Saghbine, Lebanon on July 10, 1939, she was the daughter of Youssef and Habaka Tenn. From a young age, Almaz lived a joyful life of service, devotion and faith with her parents and 7 siblings at their family farm in Lebanon.
Shortly after immigrating to Manchester with the help of her brother Dr. James Tenn, she married her husband Ernie, in 1968. Her 3 children were the light of her life and she spent her days selflessly dedicated to their upbringing and well being.
Almaz will fondly be remembered for her warmth, bubbly personality and her aptitude to prepare elaborate and delicious Lebanese meals on demand. It would make her so happy to have her family and friends delight in her cooking. Almaz was an active member member of Our Lady of the Cedars parish, where she would volunteer her time. She loved learning, and was so proud to earn her American citizenship. She was an avid knitter, quick to produce beautiful dresses, vests, hats and scarves without a pattern. Her curious nature and infectious smile allowed her to make friends quickly. Her competitive spirit would shine at cards, bowling and games, always determined to win. She cherished her 5 grandchildren who brought her so much joy.
She is predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Ernest in 2015. Her family members include her children, Sandra O'Leary and husband Stephen, Joseph Ashooh and wife Jennifer, Roseanne Waters and husband Jaime; 5 grandchildren; 6 siblings and several beloved nephews and nieces.
Visiting hours at Our Lady of the Cedars Church, 140 Mitchell St, Manchester, will be Monday May 24th from 9:30 to 11 am, followed by a funeral service at 11 am. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of the Cedars Melkite Church, 140 Mitchell St, Manchester, NH 03103.
