Amy Elizabeth Drenzek

December 10, 1962 — June 27, 2024

Merrimack

Amy Elizabeth Drenzek, 61, of Merrimack, died June 27, 2024 following a long and courageous battle against cancer, with Derrick Edward, the love of her life, and closest friends and care givers, Stacie Leimberger, Maria Morales, Miguel Morales and Lisa Turner, by her side at home.

She was born in Hartford, Conn., on Dec. 10, 1962, the daughter of the late Richard and Mary Drenzek. Her weight was dangerously low and she almost didn’t make it, but it proved from the beginning that Amy was a fighter through and through.

Amy grew up on Mousam Lake in Shapleigh, Maine, where she enjoyed ice skating, snowmobiling, waterskiing and swimming. She was an excellent diver.

She graduated from Massabesic High School in Waterboro, Maine, where she sang in the chorus. Amy loved to sing karaoke, especially Chrissy Hynde and Pat Benatar songs. Like her father, she had a beautiful voice.

Following graduation from Wentworth Institute in Boston, Amy worked at the Chelsea Soldiers Home in Chelsea, Mass. She worked as a dispersing optician at various eye care practices. She completed her careers with enjoyment and appreciation at Life Is Good, Hudson, NH.

Amy liked traveling, especially a family trip to Poland to see where her grandmother, Eva Drenzek, with whom she had a very close bond, was from.

Amy inherited her skill as an exceptional cook from her mother; the kitchen was one of her favorite places to be. She also enjoyed dining out, was skilled at puzzles, mystery games, had a green thumb and was an animal lover. She dearly missed her cats, Nightingale and Shadow, after they passed.

In addition to Derrick, also of Merrimack, she is survived by a sister, Ann Drenzek, of Saco, Maine; her former brother-in-law, Bill Fisher, two nephews, Zack Fisher (Jen Birkemose) and Kyle Fisher (Kelsey Lavallee); great-nephews Liam and Rowan Fisher, and a great-niece, Magrathea Fisher, all of Newfield, Maine; a cousin, Sandra Ingrish of San Francisco and good friends Jill Newman of Biddeford, Maine.

There will be no services. Burial will take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Manchester, NH at a future date.
