Born in Manchester on April 6, 1920, he was the son of Emile and Georgiana (Vanasse) Desmarais. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
During World War II he served in the US Army.
Mr. Desmarais worked as a mattress maker for New Hampshire Bedding Company for 40 years.
He was an active member and former commander of the Catholic War Veterans Post 1624. He was also a member of Sweeney Post 2 and had volunteered at the VA Hospital in Manchester. He was passionate about ballroom dancing.
He was married 44 years to Martha (Martel) Desmarais, who died in 1990.
IN HIS LIFE: The family includes two sons, Roger Desmarais and his wife, Diane of Manchester and Maurice Desmarais and his wife, Suzanne of Hershey, PA; six grandchildren, Nicole Desmarais, Kristen Desmarais, Katrina Kelly, Nathan Desmarais, Timothy Desmarais and Jonathan Desmarais; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Yvette Sherbut and Theresa Laflamme both of Manchester; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Gerard Desmarais.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday, April 3, 2009 at 9 am. at St. Anthony Church, 172 Belmont St., Manchester. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
