Ann Marie (Heroux) Sopel, 58, of Auburn passed away peacefully on July 4th, 2018 surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy battle against metastatic malignant melanoma.
Born in Manchester on June 26, 1960, she was the daughter of Bridget (Cashman) Heroux and the late Edward E. Heroux. She grew up in Bedford, attended St. Raphael Grammar School and graduated from Manchester West High School. She earned a degree from Hesser Business College.
Prior to her illness, she had been employed by AIG Insurance in various local offices for over 35 years.
She loved horses and held numerous leadership positions for Twin State American Saddlebred Association (TSASA) including President, Vice President, and Secretary. She was active in running horse shows all over New England. Throughout her life, she enjoyed traveling, boating, and visiting the beach with her family and friends.
Above all else, she will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who will be greatly missed.
Family members include her loving husband of 30 years, Thomas Sopel of Auburn; her daughters, Lauren Sopel of Saratoga Springs, NY and Christa Sopel of Woburn, MA; her mother, Bridget Heroux of Bedford; her sisters, Diane E. Glines and husband Lawrence of Manchester, Sharon E. Glennon and husband Colin of Bedford; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at St. Raphael Church. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
Donations may be made in her memory to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or the family has requested those who are able to donate blood, do so through their local Red Cross.
