Sister Anna Berube, CSC, (Sister Mary Jeanne of the Sacred Heart, CSC) of the Sisters of Holy Cross, 357 Island Pond Road, Manchester, died August 17, 2006.
She was born in Nashua, NH, on April 4, 1910, the daughter of Edouard and Adele (April) Berube.
She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross on February 14, 1939 and made her final Profession on August 15, 1946. She served in the Congregation for over 67 years.
Sister Anna taught elementary school under the direction of the Sisters of Holy Cross in New Bedford, Adams, and Springfield, MA and Suncook, NH. Sister Anna was also engaged in food service in various houses of the Congregation. She was missioned as a dietician in Manchester, Rollinsford, Rochester, Nashua, and Franklin, NH.
Sister Anna also served at Notre Dame College in Manchester.
Sister Anna retired to St. George Manor, Manchester, NH in 1991. She was later transferred to Holy Cross Health Center in 1998.
Sister Anna is survived by several nephews and nieces.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday August 21, 2006 in the chapel at St. George Manor. Burial followed in St. Augustin Cemetery, Manchester.
