Annalie Deborah Saunders, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 21, 2025, in Potomac, Maryland. She was born July 22, 1934 in Laconia, NH and was the daughter of the late Frances and Abe Bean.
Annalie grew up in Laconia spending summers as a lifeguard on the shores of beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee and winters skiing in the White Mountains. After graduating from Boston University with her Master's degree in Education, she taught elementary school, and later tennis, golf, and swimming. Annalie met and married the love of her life, John Saunders, in 1959. They raised their family in Newton and Weston, MA. Their marriage lasted 64 years, until John’s death in 2024. Afterwards, she moved to Potomac, MD, where she joyfully celebrated her 90th birthday. Annalie devoted her time to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute after successful treatment of ovarian cancer, diagnosed when she was 49. She was kind and witty, and a talented knitter and bridge player. She enjoyed being active in The Friends of the Libraries of Boston University.
She is survived by her daughters: Lesley (Jean-Paul) Lavalleye of Potomac, MD and Andrea Saunders of Chestnut Hill, MA; grandchildren: Alexandra (Garin) Scollan, Courtney (Joseph) Conway, Jacqueline (Tyler) Nechanicky; and great-grandchildren: Cole Gallagher, Ken Pham, Henry Scollan, Noah Scollan, Joseph Conway IV, and John Conway. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband and grandson: Gregory Lavalleye. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, April 27th, 2025 in Manchester, NH.
