Annette M. Whitmore, 81, of Manchester died September 12, 2017 at Villa Crest Retirement Center after a brief illness.
Born in Manchester on February 13, 1936, she was the daughter of Charles and Eva (Simard) Whitmore. Annette graduated from West High School, where she was a top athlete. She was a letter-woman in multiple sports.
Prior to retirement, she had been employed as an office manager by Merchants Motors for over 30 years.
She loved to play softball and was a great pitcher who played many years for the Manchester Women's Slow Pitch Softball League. Well into her 50's, her career in softball was featured in an article in the Manchester Union Leader.
Annette was an avid cat lover, owning many cats throughout her life. She leaves behind her cat Maggie.
Family members include her nephew Brian Twitchell and wife Hannelore of Germany; her niece, Lisa Ruppel and husband John of North Carolina; special cousins, Gary and Heidi Hamer and their son Geoff of Manchester; five great-nephews and nieces, Joshua, Andy and Tracy Twitchell of Germany, Zak Ruppel of CO and Nicole Ruppel of FL; her sister, Muriel Twitchell and husband Richard of FL; several cousins and many caring friends.
The family wishes to thank the outstanding and caring staff of Villa Crest Retirement Center.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday, September 18, 2017 in St. Raphael Church. Burial followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted. Donations may be made in her memory to the Manchester Animal Shelter, 490 Dunbarton Road, Manchester, NH 03102.
