Antonio J. "Tony" Godin, 93, of Manchester died February 27, 2006 at Mt. Carmel Nursing Home after a brief illness.
Born in St. Eulalie, Quebec on July 2, 1912, he was the son of Zephire and Hedwidge (Moreau) Godin. He lived in Nashua and Manchester for many years.
During World War II he served as an air raid warden for the Civil Defense Department. As a young adult he was a talented violinist and was in an orchestra that played in the Nashua area.
While in Nashua, Mr. Godin worked at J.F. McElwain Shoe Company, the gas company, Fortescue Construction Company, Servomation and he also operated Tony's General Repair. He also worked at Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown.
He served as a committee member of Boy Scout Troop 255 in Nashua and volunteered his carpentry skills and donated materials for scouting construction projects.
The family includes two children, Carmen J. Petrin of Bedford and James R. Godin of Londonderry; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren and his former wife, Fernande A. (Dumas) Godin of Manchester.
A memorial mass of Christian burial was celebrated Friday March 3, 2006 in St. Marie Church, 378 Notre Dame Ave., Manchester.
