He was born in Manchester on November 9, 1922 to George and Donalda (Rene) Benard.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy aboard a destroyer escort in the Pacific.
Armand was a firefighter with the Manchester Fire Department for over 26 years and retired in 1978. He loved woodworking, gardening and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox.
He was predeceased by his wife of nearly 50 years, Claire (LaBonte) Benard in 1996; a brother, Robert Benard; two sisters, Rachel Steinmuller and Claire Boyce; and a son in law, Robert Kubat.
The family includes his wife of 18 years, Shirley Sauriol of Lutz, FL; three children, Robert Benard and his wife, Jan, of Concord, Anne Kubat of Hooksett and Janet Benard of Manchester; six grandchildren, Mark Kubat, Michael Kubat and his wife, Michelle, Jennifer Kubat, Timothy Kubat and his wife, Kerry, Kim Benard and Bruce Benard; seven great grandchildren, Benjamin, Alexandria, Matthew, John, Kayley, Emma and Ella; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service took place on Monday, June 15, 2015 at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Land O' Lakes, FL. Committal prayers followed at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
