Armand W. Demers

Armand W. Demers, 94 of Manchester, formerly of Goffstown, died January 10, 2022, at St. Teresa Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, after a period of declining health.
Born in Manchester on October 20, 1927, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Diana (Rivard) Demers. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School for Boys and earned his bachelor's degree from St. Anselm College in 1955.
Armand served in the US Navy during WWII, the Korean War and remained in active reserve for a total of 23 years until his retirement in 1968. He was honorably discharged at the rank Chief Petty Officer Personnel Man. He worked as a Supervisor of Benefit Payments for NH Dept. of Employment Security for 21 years before retiring in 1987. He previously worked for Chicopee Mfg. Co. in Personnel. After retirement, he spent time wintering in Florida.
Armand was a lifetime member of Jutras Post 43, American Legion, Fleet Reserve Association, The Hundred Club of NH, NH Association of Chiefs of Police and member of the Zoning Board of Adjustment in Goffstown.
Surviving family members include his wife of 56 years, Joyce M. (Kirk) Demers of Goffstown; Patricia M. Demers of Peabody, MA, Daniel P. Demers and wife Tressor of Goffstown and Paul A. Demers and wife Debbie of Weare; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one sister, Cecile M. Demers of Westford, MA; one brother, Robert E. Demers and wife Donna Foote of Enfield; and many nieces and nephews. Armand was predeceased by both parents; two sisters, Dorianne Filipowicz and Constance Smillie; and one brother, Paul E. Demers.
SERVICES: Due to the circumstances of COVID-19, there are no calling hours. A committal service with military honors will take place in the summer at NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 08105.
