Armande (Amanda) L. Lizotte, 86, of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026 at Argyll hospital surrounded by loved ones. Born in Quebec, Canada, September 4, 1939 to the late Adelard and Marie-Reine (Darveau) Lizotte, she was the eldest of nine children. She is predeceased by her brother Oscar Lizotte.
A woman of integrity and strength, Amanda always sought the best for her family. In 1968, she bravely immigrated to the United States with her husband, Gilles Ratte, and their four daughters. Later, she became a respected seamstress at a local bridal shop, Chalifour’s, where she earned the affectionate title of “the little french seamstress.”
Amanda’s creativity was one of her most defining traits. From sewing handmade outfits for each of her children during the holidays to designing custom costumes, curtains, pillows, and slipcovers, her artistic flair enriched the lives of everyone around her. She took great pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and always delighted in hearing their stories and adventures. She enjoyed entertaining guests and was always up for a good laugh.
Amanda is survived by her loving children: Sylvie St. Hilaire and her husband Gary of Mechanicsburg, PA; Josie Gooch of Marysville, PA; Chantal Plante and her husband Jacques of Bedford, NH; Martine Cloutier and her husband Mike of Bedford, NH.
