Arthur E. Bernard, 94, of Manchester, died June 1, 2005, at the Elliot Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born in Dover, NH, November 9, 1910, and was the son of Achilles and Elmira (LeClerc) Bernard. He lived most of his life in Dover and had been a Manchester resident since 1998.
Mr. Bernard served in the US Navy during World War II.
He was a retired painting contractor.
Mr. Bernard was a member of the American Legion.
He was predeceased by his wife, Eva Marie (Cote) Bernard, in 2004.
Family members include a son, Robert R. Bernard of Essex Junction, VT; 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be celebrated Friday June 10, 2005 at Blessed Sacrament Church, Manchester. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery, Dover, where a committal service will take place at 2:30 pm.

Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester, was in charge of arrangements.
