Arthur J. Connelly

Arthur J. Connelly, 93, of Manchester died July 16, 2002 at Catholic Medical Center, Manchester after a sudden illness.

Born in Manchester on April 8, 1909, he was the son of Martin and Catherine (Gilmore) Connelly. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester.

Mr. Connelly was a funeral director in Manchester for many years and was owner of the former Sullivan & Connelly Funeral Home. In addition, he served as a member of the Manchester Fire Commission for 12 years and as a Commissioner of the Manchester Parks and Recreation Department for 18 years.

He also served three terms on the New Hampshire State Legislature and was chairman of the County Delegation during one of those terms.

He was a member of the New Hampshire Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. In addition, he was a former member of the Manchester Country Club and the Manchester Lions Club

He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary (Sullivan) Connelly in 1967 and by his second wife, Bessie (Deal) Connelly in 1986.

The family includes his wife, Lillian (McMahon)(Kinney) Connelly of Manchester; a son, Attorney Arthur M. Connelly of Manchester; a step son, John M. Kinney of Center Harbor; a step daughter, Linda Prokuski of Virginia; five step grandchildren; 2 nieces and one nephew.

A memorial mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday August 3, 2002 in St. Catherine Church, corner of Webster and Hemlock streets, Manchester. Private burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
