He was born in Manchester on August 16, 1931, the son of Antonio and Eva (Chicoine) Descoteaux. He was educated in the local school system and was a graduate of St. Joseph High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in history from St. Anselm College. During the Korean Conflict, he had served in the US Air Force.
Prior to retirement, he had been employed in sales for Goulet Supply Company. Prior to that, he had worked for Wilco and Radio Shack. During his college years, he had worked as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service.
He was an avid sports fan and loved to travel. He was predeceased by his wife Fernande J. (Chalifour) Descoteaux in 2002.
Members of his family include three sons, Gerry A. Descoteaux of Manchester, David L. Descoteaux of Lake Ozark, MO, and Marc A. and his wife Maureen Descoteaux of Colchester, VT; four grandchildren, Jillian, Myles, Kyle, and Joseph; two brothers, Robert Descoteaux of Dover, NH, and George Descoteaux of Revere, MA; three sisters, Pauline Bullard of Manchester, Doris Descoteaux of Manchester, and Rita Descoteaux of North Conway; several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday January 27, 2007 in the Parish of Transfiguration, corner of Alsace and Kelley Streets. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd, Manchester.
