Arthur E. Furtado, Jr., 79, of Nashua, died on February 24, 2024, at Courville of Manchester, after a period of declining health, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Taunton, MA on July 1, 1944, He was the son of the late Arthur and Mary (Fernandez) Furtado, Sr. He was a graduate of Bishop Bradley High School, earned his BA in Business from University of Lowell, and his MBA from Rivier College. Arthur served in the US Navy, Seabees for 2 years before being honorably discharged at the rank of E-3 in 1964. He later worked for Digital Equipment Corporation as Purchasing Manager for over 30 years, before retiring in 2004.
Arthur was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and playing tennis. He was a dedicated hockey and baseball coach to his sons as well. Arthur loved his family and time spent together more than anything else. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving and devoted, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Surviving family includes four children, Chris Furtado and his wife Gwyn of Weare, Vinnie Furtado and wife Cheryl of Conway, Nancy Leary of CT and Adam Furtado and significant other, Chelsea Nickerson of Colorado; four grand children, Brian and Tyler, Conner Furtado, and Jessica Perron and husband Mark; three great grandchildren; one sister, Tina Bernard and husband Jack; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by both parents.
SERVICES: A visiting hour will be from 3pm to 4pm on Thursday, with a memorial service beginning promptly at 4pm, followed by military honors, at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North St., Manchester, NH 03104. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Alzheimer’s Association, 15 Constitution Dr., Ste. 1G, Bedford, NH 03110.
