Arthur Hoskins

Arthur Hoskins, 100, of 37 Ridgewood Rd., Bedford, NH, died October 4, 2003, at the Elliot Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Manchester, England, November 5, 1902, he was the son of Thomas and Winifred (Kenney) Hoskins. He came to the United States in 1926 and lived in the Newton, Ma. area most of his life. He had been a Bedford resident the past 3 years.

He worked as a Raleigh Bicycle salesman for a time and later became a master locksmith.He retired around 1980 after working many years as owner/operator of Beacon Hardware in Newton Center.

He was married to Prudence (Cunliffe) Hoskins, who died in 1960, and Angelina (Chappelle) Hoskins, who died in 2000.

He was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church in Newton, Mass.

Family members include three daughters, Nancy H. Hooper of Gainesville, FL, Barbara H. Dunfey of Portsmouth, NH, and Winifred H. Cote, of Goffstown, NH; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren;

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Thursday October 9, 2003 in Sacred Heart Church, Centre St., Newton, Mass. Burial followed in Newton Cemetery, Newton, Mass.
