Arthur Kalantzis, 73, of Manchester, passed peacefully on August 4, 2022 at Elliot Hospital after a long period of declining health.
Born in Vatsounia, Greece, he was the firstborn son to George and Iphenegia (Effie Katis) Kalantzis.
Arthur was a lifelong resident of Manchester and loved his city. From teaching at the former Franklin Street School in Manchester for several years as a young man, entrepreneurship with his family and driving a taxi in the Queen City for nearly three decades, Arthur tirelessly worked to provide for his kids. He enjoyed coffee, deep sea fishing and watching the Boston Red Sox.
He was a member of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Manchester.
He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Maria Saitas.
Arthur is survived by his wife of 30 years, Paula (Papanikolou) Kalantzis of Manchester; five children, Nicole L. Kalantzis, George A. Kalantzis, Ryan V. Kalantzis and his husband, Chad Stanton, Tony A. Kalantzis and Lindsey M. Kalantzis all of Manchester; five grandchildren, Cristian, Jayden, Melina, Maliyah and Liam; three siblings, Koni Farr, Vlas Kalantzis and Chuck Kalantzis all of Florida; cousins, nieces, nephews and granddogs, Rocky, Layla and Lola.
SERVICES: Calling hours are Tuesday (8/9) from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Trisagion Service at 6 p.m. at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester. The funeral is Wednesday (8/10) at 10 a.m. at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 111 Island Pond Rd., Manchester. Committal prayers will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Calef Road, Manchester.
