Arthur P. Soares, 87, of Manchester, died peacefully on February 16, 2016 at Mt. Carmel Nursing Home surrounded by family after a long period of declining health.
He was born in Manchester on September 15, 1928 to Antonio and Yvonne (Champagne) Soares. He graduated from Manchester Central High School in 1948 where he was a letterman athlete in football, hockey and track. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserves and was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
Arthur worked as a sales associate at Sears for many years. He loved spending time outdoors; hunting, playing golf and especially fly fishing.
He was predeceased by his parents and five siblings, Antonio, Raymond, Philip, John and Maryann Soares.
The family includes three daughters, Cynthia Rivard and Debra Soares both of Manchester and Patricia Bentley and her husband, William, of Glenwood Springs, CO; five grandchildren, Jonathan Rivard, Amanda Montplaisir, Emily Montplaisir, Katherine Montplaisir and Charles Bentley; four great grandchildren, Kyliana, Mason, Madilyn and Chloe; five siblings, Manuel Soares, Richard Soares, Violet Lauziere, Cecile Tickler and Linda Soares all of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral ceremony was held on Monday, February 22, 2016 .at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester.
