She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on February 22, 1935, the daughter of Hubert and Katherine (Hollenstein) Tennies. She was educated in the Milwaukee school system and earned her bachelor's degree from Mount Mary College in Milwaukee.
Prior to retirement, she had been employed for many years as a librarian at St. Anselm College. After retirement, she had been an active volunteer at Elliot Hospital and Veteran's Administration Hospital.
Mrs. Biwer was a long time communicant of St. Pius X Parish and was an active member of the church's Ladies' guild, having served as president and corresponding secretary.
Members of her family include her husband of nearly 50 years, Melvin Biwer of Manchester; one daughter and son-in-law, Canice and John Lawler of North Potomac, MD and their children Christopher and Brendan; two sons and daughter-in-laws, Bruce and Lynda Biwer of Lemont, IL and their children Craig and Meagan, Mark and Lynne Biwer of Springfield, VA and their children Michelle, Michael, and Laura; one sister, Janet M. David of Denver, CO; one brother, Thomas Tennies of Albuquerque, NM; nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Pius X Church on Tuesday April 17, 2007. Committal prayers followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
The family has requested that donations may be made in her memory to New Horizons for NH, 199 Manchester St, Manchester, NH 03101.
