August "Gus" Stables, of Hooksett, passed on June 17, 2016.
Gus was an avid golfer, swimmer and sports enthusiast. He loved crossword puzzles, chess, working on his lawn and fixing things.
A proud naval veteran of World War II, he served as a Pharmacist Mate 1st Class medic in both the Pacific and European theatres, including administering to casualties on the beach of Normandy.
Gus was born on November 25, 1921 and was raised and educated in Buffalo and Niagara Falls, NY. His career spanned over 40 years in senior management at Moore Business Forms.
Gus was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor; a sister, Beatrice; daughters, Susan and Peggy and his grandson, Aric.
He is survived by his three children, Nancy Mannolini and husband, Vincent, Cathy Gagnon and husband, Keith, and James Stables and wife, Gloria; a son-in-law, Paul Gowen; grandchildren, Meggin, Carter, Patrick, Michael, Scott, Amanda, James and Annaka; great grandchildren, Rilley and Reese; his beloved Dineen clan, nieces and nephews, the Bonns and his lifelong friend, Jack Paterson.
Eternal Gus, never forgotten.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at St. Catherine Church, corner of Webster and Hemlock streets, Manchester. Committal prayers with military honors followed at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen.
