Barbara Jean Dufresne

November 30, 1943 — September 4, 2021

Barbara Jean Dufresne, a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 4th, 2021. Her family was by her side, bringing her comfort, sharing memories, and treasuring every last moment.

Barbara was the daughter of Harry Hogencamp Jr. and Catherine Wilson Hogencamp. The youngest of four children, she was born in Franklin, Massachusetts, but grew up and spent her life as a proud resident of Manchester, New Hampshire.

A graduate of Manchester's Central High School, Barbara was an accomplished majorette who greatly enjoyed her time performing with the school's band.

In her younger years, she was a switchboard operator at the Elliot Hospital and at the New Boston Air Force Tracking Station. Barbara would go on to briefly co-own Magic Era Antique Shop in the Queen City and finished her career as a switchboard operator at Catholic Medical Center, retiring about a decade ago.

Barbara loved to go antiquing and spending time with family and friends out by her pool at the family's home on the city's West Side. She was truly happiest whenever she was with her family.

The final years of her life were difficult due to the effects of Alzheimer's Disease, but she never allowed the terrible affliction to diminish her grit or grace, smiling at the love of her family right up until the end.

Barbara leaves behind her daughter, Pamela Tremblay Dubois and significant other Michael of Londonderry; son, Kyle Tremblay and fiancée Kristen of Manchester; daughter, Holly Dufresne Rodrigues and husband John of Salem; and son, Derek Dufresne and husband Michael of Washington, D.C. She is also survived by her sister, Pauline Hogencamp Mayhew of Vassalboro, Maine; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her former husband and best friend, Henry "Hank" Dufresne; brother, John "Jack" Hogencamp; brother, William "Bill" Hogencamp; granddaughter, Mercedes Tremblay; and great-grandson, Mason Tremblay.
