Barbara Doris Thornton, 76, of Candia died unexpectedly on April 17, 2021.
Born in Manchester on April 18, 1944, she was the daughter of Leo-Paul and Irene (Pepin) Lafond.
She was a devoted wife, dedicated mother, loving grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved cooking and baking a variety of cuisines for her family. She taught her children some of her favorite recipes and took pride in gathering the family around the table for a good meal. She enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises with her husband and dear friends and spending time at the beach, where she spent every summer vacationing with her kids.
She started her career at Eaton's School of Cake Decorating in Hooksett, making wedding cakes. As a professional cake decorator, she was able to add a special touch to countless weddings. She later became co-owner of Eaton's, where she worked until retirement. She loved all of the customers and the customers loved her.
Family members include her husband, Edward Thornton of Candia; her children, Edward Thornton Jr of Candia, Lisa Thibodeau and husband Scott of Candia, Lea St. Laurent and husband James of Merrimack, Steven Thornton and wife Stephanie of Maryland; her six grandchildren, Kyle Thornton, Austin McDaniel, Taylor McDaniel, Matthew St. Laurent, Jake Thornton, Julia Thornton; one great-granddaughter, Gracie West; one brother, Albert Lafond and wife Prudence of Candia along with many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours at Lambert Funeral Home &Crematory, 1799 Elm St, corner of North St, will be Saturday from 10 to 12, followed by a service in the funeral home chapel at noon. Burial will follow in Holbrook Cemetery, Candia.
