She was born in Manchester on January 26, 1929, the daughter of Telesphore and Lucille (Laronde) Brunelle. She was a former resident of Manchester prior to moving to Goffstown in 1993. She graduated from Manchester High School West, class of 1947.
She was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish for over 50 years.
Bea was a founding charter member of Our Lady's Guild in 1965. She served as president for several terms and held many other offices within the guild for many years. She was secretary of the New Hampshire Council of Catholic Women for several years.
She was also secretary of the NH Catholic Daughters of the Americas for 7 years.
For 25 years she was a staunch supporter of the retreat movement in NH. At the Oblate Retreat House in Hudson, she served on the Advisory Board, recruited over 500 retreaters, and was Captain of the Retreat League Associates and headed a team of Oblate House Auxiliaries.
In 1972, she was a founding charter member of Manchester Policemen's Wives Association. She stayed on as an active member after her husband Bob Lievens retired.
Bea was past president of the Villagers Social Club of the Village of Glen Falls and Medford Farms communities in Goffstown. She also served as secretary of the organization for several years.
She was a member of the Rosebushes of St. Theresa at the Precious Blood Monastery.
She belonged to "My Brother's Keeper" at Blessed Sacrament Parish, an organization dedicated to making quilted sleeping bags for the homeless.
Her husband of 50 years Robert H. Lievens died in 1997. She was also predeceased by a daughter Lucille Crews Vincent in 2003.
Family members include 3 children, Robert A. Lievens and wife Barbara of Sanbornton, Richard R. Lievens and wife Nancy of Hooksett, and Carol Tremblay and husband Robert of Goffstown; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Estelle Henderson of Goffstown; nephews and nieces.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 in St. Lawrence Church, Goffstown. After cremation, urn burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Manchester.
Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Monastery of the Precious Blood, 700 Bridge St, Manchester, NH 03104.
