   Becky Nelson Young, 50, of Hooksett, died on October 13, 2022 at Elliot Hospital after a lengthy illness.

   She was born in Concord on December 23, 1971 to James and Marilyn (Benz) Nelson.

   In her life, Becky earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of Maine at Farmington and a master’s degree from Notre Dame College in Manchester.  Professionally, she worked as a school counselor in the Franklin and Concord school districts, respectively.

   Becky enjoyed wordplay such as crossword puzzles and Scrabble.  She was an avid writer and appreciator of poetry.  Becky’s love of cats and coffee was well known to many.  Among her enduring traits was her ability to connect with others.  

   A gifted-helper, Becky used humor and her steady presence to assist anyone in need.  Despite having an illness that kept taking, she insisted on giving the best of herself.  Echoes of her laugh will continue. Her light will shine on. Those of us whose lives she touched will always remember, Ms. Nelson, Mrs. Young and “our Becky”.

   She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Russell J. Young of Hooksett, and his brothers Keith of Concord, and Brian and his wife, Jacqui of North Carolina and their sons, Clay and Jace. Becky is also survived by aunts and uncles on her mother Lin’s side, Coralee and Alfred Kleiner of Manchester, Barbara and John Richards of Lamoine, ME, Elizabeth Benz of Ellsworth, ME and Susan Benz of Austin, TX; cousins, Kathryn and Don Dickerson of Eden Prairie, MN,; Timothy and Michelle Kleiner of Auburn and Carrie and Peter Kutny of Ellsworth, ME.  She is also survived by extended cousins, Brie and Maddie Dickerson of Eden Prairie, MN, Olivia and Shawn Kleiner of Auburn and Bridget and Erin Kutny of Ellsworth, ME.  Memories, both sweet and sour, will also live on through the heart and mind of Becky’s dearest friend, Melissa Rivet of Manchester.

   Becky was predeceased by her parents, James Nelson and Lin Benz and her uncle, Larry P. Benz, Jr.

   The family would like to extend its gratitude to the many healthcare professionals who impacted Becky’s quality of life in immeasurable ways.

   SERVICES:  Calling hours are Monday (10/24) from 4 to 6 p.m. at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester.
