Benoit Emile Biron “Benny”, 84, of Allenstown, formerly of Manchester, passed away suddenly on Tuesday morning of May 19th with his loving family by his side.
Benny was born in Magog, Quebec, Canada on April 9, 1942, the middle child of the late Hector and Yvonne (Crevier) Biron. His family moved to Norton Mills, VT in 1952 and later moved to NH. He enlisted in the NH Army National Guard in October 1961. He served on active duty at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, with Alpha Battery 1st Battalion 172nd Field Artillery during the Berlin Wall Crisis as a wheel and howitzer mechanic. He later began a 31-year career as a civil service technician with the NH Army National Guard at the OMS #4 Manchester Armory. During this time, he served in leadership positions Motor Sergeant, Battalion Motor Sergeant and HHS Battery.
After 40 years of dedicated military service, Benny retired as Master Sergeant from US Army in 2001.
After his military career, Benny worked for Averell Landscape & Design for 10 years and then continued to stay active working on numerous projects. He was always happiest when keeping busy and helping others.
Benny met the love of his life, Dianne, on a blind date, and the two were inseparable ever since. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on August 25, 2024. They enjoyed traveling the world together to near and far places, hosting family gatherings at their home and walks on the beach.
He also enjoyed playing games with his family and friends, cooking, trips to the casino, finding ways to make people laugh and making new friends wherever he went.
Benny was a devoted catholic and member of St. Joseph Cathedral in Manchester and St. John the Baptist upon moving to Allenstown. His love and devotion to his family was beyond words. Together, he and Dianne demonstrated the true meaning of love and what a strong and devoted marriage should be. Benny was a special person who touched the lives of everyone who had the honor of meeting him. He was an exceptional father, proud grandfather and great grandfather. He was down to earth, open hearted, hardworking, a great listener, patient, and someone who truly understood what matters in life. He was one of a kind, a true legend. Though he will be deeply missed, he will remain with us every day through the memories and love he leaves behind.
Benny is survived by his two daughters, Donna Averell of NH and Michelle Girard and husband Michael of Pembroke; six grand children Ryan Girard and wife Macie, Benjamin Averell and wife Brianna, both of Allenstown, Kristin Averell of Dunstable, MA, Sarah Girard and Tyler Girard both of Arlington, VA and Drake Biron of Candia; three great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Raelyn, Tanner Girard, and on great grandson on the way who he was very anxious to meet; and many nieces and nephews.
Benny is now reunited in eternity with his loving wife, Dianne L. (Lacroix) Biron, who passed in 2024, and his son Mark B. Biron, who passed in 2018. He is also predeceased by his two brothers Paul Biron in 2003 and Roger Biron in 2015.
The Family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the staff at Elliot Hospital ER Department and ICU for their excellent and dedicated care that Benny received.
