Bertrand J. Lesmerises

December 20, 1918 — September 17, 2007

Bertrand J. Lesmerises, 88, of Manchester, died September 17, 2007 at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home, after a long illness.

He was born December 20, 1918, and was the son of Oscar and Yvonne (Gaudreau) Lesmerises. He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Seton Parish.

Bertrand attended local schools, and served in the United States Army during World War II. He participated in the European theater, seeing action during the Battle of the Bulge. He received a Silver Star medal for his service. Following his service time in 1945, and until 1960, Bertrand joined with his brother in operating the Lesmerises Brothers Market on the West Side of Manchester. He also worked for Foster Beef, Shaw's and Prime Meats and was a member of the Amalgamated Meat Cutters Union, Mr. Lesmerises was a member of the League of 1000 Men of the Precious Blood, the Truth will set you free Ministry, of Hudson NH, World Apostolate of Fatima, The Blue Army USA Union, Missionary Rosebushes of St. Theresa;

In addition, he enjoyed square dancing at the Heel&Toe, Allemande-eights, and the Queen City Promenaders.

IN HIS LIFE: Family members include a son, Norman Lesmerises, and his wife Lucille(Doucette), of Bedford; 2 grandaughters, Jennifer O'Neill, and Michelle Morin, both of Bedford; 2 great grandchildren, Allison, and Sarah O'Neill; a sister, Ferdinande Nadeau, of Bedford; a brother, Hector Lesmerises, of Concord; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his wife Julia E. (Foster) Lesmerises on September 28, 2004.

SERVICES:

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated, Thursday September 20, 2007 St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Meetinghouse Rd., Bedford.

Burial followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Goffstown Rd. Manchester.
