He was born in Manchester on November 25, 1929 to Antonio and Marion (Nolin) Metivier. He had lived in Manchester, North Hampton and Hampton and had wintered in Florida in Stuart and Hobe Sound for many years.
He graduated from St. Marie High School and St. Anselm College, both in Manchester, and from the New England Institute of Anatomy in Boston, MA.
Bert was owner and operator of Lambert Funeral Home in Manchester for many years.
He was a Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. He was also a member of the St. Anselm College Alumni Association and a former member of the Richelieu Club in Manchester.
He was a longtime communicant of St. Theresa Church in Rye.
He will be remembered for his compassion as a funeral director and for being a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.
The family includes his wife of 63 years, Anita (Boisvert) Metivier of Hampton; four children, David Metivier and his wife, Cheryl, of Ft. Worth, TX, Marc Metivier and his wife, Katherine, of Hooksett, Michelle Small and her husband, Richard, of Medfield, MA and Denis Metivier and his wife, Peggy, of Manchester; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Metivier, Kelly Gagne, William Metivier, Marielle Metivier, Sarah Small, Benjamin Small, Hannah Metivier and Sam Metivier; six great grandchildren, Lucas, Shannon, Kellen, Kaylee, Hannah and Connor ; two siblings, Lorraine Martin of Manchester and Normand Metivier and his wife, Gertrude, of Manchester; and cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, March 20, 2015 at St. Anselm Abbey Church, on the campus of St. Anselm College in Manchester. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
