Beverly Anna (Newell) Gibson

MANCHESTER - Never allowing anyone to dictate her path, Beverly “Bev” made the decision to peacefully depart in the early evening of Sunday, July 20, 2025, at the age of 94. She was born on March 28, 1931, to Herbert F. and Josephine (Rausch) Newell. She was raised in Manchester, attended Bakersville Grammar School and graduated from Central High School in 1949. She married her husband of 56 years, Richard C. Gibson, on September 26, 1953. In her early days working at Pariseau’s on Elm Steet, she cultivated a lasting appreciation for fashion. With direct lines to Paul Mitchell, Revlon, and Roma’s, she never missed her weekly hair appointments or daily makeup routine, and her love for couture—though it evolved into ready-to-wear— remained unwavering. She set the standard for style and insisted on well-pressed clothes. She poured endless energy into perfecting her home, always had the perfect gift for every occasion, and was known for her exceptional chocolate walnut fudge. Above all, she lived for her husband, Richard (“Dick”), and “my girls.”

After 25 years with the Travelers Insurance Co., she retired in 1996. She and Dick spent many years enjoying a quiet life together. Nothing fancy. Just the simple daily things that became so memorable and meaningful to her after Dick passed in April 2009 while they were vacationing in Florida.

She was predeceased by her brothers Herbert “Bert” Newell, Jr., Norman “Zeke” Newell, and Kenneth “Kenny” Newell, and her brother-in-law Robert Ensminger. Her devotion to her sister, Bernice “Puppy” Ensminger was unmatched and although they were separated by miles, they spoke every day and shared the joys and sorrows of their lives through the years.

She is survived by her two daughters, Kim Desrosiers and husband Ned of Manchester, NH, and Karyn Myers and husband Hanson of Hooksett, NH. Her legacy continues through her grandson Adam Desrosiers, his wife Tara Birmingham, and great grandson Cameron of Manchester, NH; grandson Andrew Magoon, his wife Melissa, and great grandsons Nash and Colt of Bristol, NH; and granddaughter Molly Magoon of Hooksett, NH. She is also survived by her sister, Bernice Ensminger of Salem, OR many nieces and nephews, and her oldest friend and partner in crime, Mary Ashcroft of Derry, NH.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to The Courville at Manchester for the kindness, respect, and love shown to our mother during the last 2 years. Their support provided her with new friends and experiences, from painting and ceramics, to playing Bingo and giving a “Tony-worthy” performance in the annual Memorial Day production. Thanks are also due to the Manchester VNA and their hospice staff, who cared for her with exceptional kindness and respect over the past three months.

We received many kind and loving tributes to “Bev” over the past months, and we are grateful. To us, she will always be “Ma,” and we will love her forever…Karyn & Kim
