Blanche E. Latouche

Blanche Eve Latouche, 99, 2010 recipient of Hooksett's Boston Post Cane, died September 2, 2011 at Hackett Hill Healthcare following a period of deteriorating health.

Born May 19, 1912, the daughter of Philip & Roseanna (Bolduc) Melanson in Easthampton, MA, she was raised and educated in Keene. After marrying the late Alfred Latouche in 1933 the family moved to Manchester in 1949.

She had worked as a cafeteria manager at the former Manchester Federal Savings & Loan for over 20 years and retired in 1974 to Loch Eden Shores in Meredith. Active in the "Fifty Plus" club and St. Charles Barromeo Parish Community, she hosted friends and family at their Winnipesaukee home, prior to re-locating to Hooksett in 1983.

She found tremendous enjoyment in her daughter's family, vacationing in Ohio for numerous holidays. Hand-crocheted afghans were crafted for each of her grandchildren, in their choice of color and style. In 1997 and 1998, Blanche successfully fought cancer twice.

She was pre-deceased by her husband Al in March of 1991 and her sister Anita Johnston in 1984.

Family members include her daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Kenneth Turner of Springfield, OH; her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Denise Latouche of Hooksett; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces. In addition, she leaves behind dearly beloved friends whom she considered relatives. Her family sincerely thanks the Hackett Hill staff for their attentive care and compassion as well as Dr. Davila for her untiring devotion to Blanche.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday, September 9, 2011 in St. Catherine Church. Burial followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Road.
