Blanche K. Szopa, 98, of Manchester died October 8, 2011 at the Hanover Hill Healthcare Center.

She was born on May 1, 1913, in Manchester, the daughter of Francis and Caroline (Rapala) Kuliga. She had been a life long resident of Manchester and a communicant of the Holy Trinity Cathedral where she held membership in the Maria Konopniecka Society.

She was predeceased in 1994 by her husband of 63 years Stanley E. Szopa and also by two sisters, Sophie C. Champagne and Frances K. Robinson.

Blanche was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest loves were her family, her home, tending to her garden and all else that grew in her yard and cooking. She will be remembered for her lentil soup, Polish Goulash, and her Buche de Noel which she would painstakingly make at Christmas.

The family includes her daughter, Walda Szopa of West Yarmouth, MA; her son, Dr. Ronald F. Szopa and his wife Jacqueline of Manchester; a granddaughter, Alia A. Szopa, Esq. and her fiance Scott D. Ritchey, Esq., both of Miami, FL; three brothers, John Kuliga and his wife Renee of Hooksett, Stanley Kuliga and his wife Helen of Hooksett, and Frederick Kuliga and his wife Laurette of Manchester; several nephews and nieces.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated by Bishop Thomas J. Gnat on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Holy Trinity Cathedral, 166 Pearl St. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to Holy Trinity Cathedral Restoration Fund, 166 Pearl St, Manchester, NH 03104.
