Brenda Easton

April 19, 1940 — July 11, 2025

Brenda Easton, 85, of Manchester, died July 11, 2025 after a period of declining health with her loving husband by her side.

Born in Methuen, MA on April 19, 1940, she was the daughter of James and Ruth Mellor. She was educated in the Methuen, MA school system. Following her high school graduation, Brenda was a librarian at the Methuen Library for a number of years.

When Brenda and Ken met in 1958, they immediately “hit it off”. Ken was a Marine and had already served in combat in Korea. Brenda and her family were devoted Quakers, which is a Christian denomination that stands for peace and non-violence, silence and closeness with God. Brenda brought Ken home to meet her family, and Ken recalls being welcomed warmly by her family that day and always. Ken and Brenda were married on January 18, 1959. This past January, Ken gave Brenda a necklace engraved with the words, “I loved you then. I love you now, and I always will.”

Ken and Brenda were married for over 66 years! During that time, Ken was given assignments in various locations. He always found a way to bring Brenda and their young family along. Brenda was the “Heart of the family”.

The family settled in NH about 23 years ago and became members of the Hooksett Congregational Church, UCC. Brenda participated in church activities and committees. Until her health declined earlier this year, the couple participated in weekly services and activities. Brenda will be remembered for her warm smile.

Ken and Brenda have three children, Catherine Easton of Redding, CT, Thomas Easton of Newtown, CT, and Carolyn Easton of Westbrook, ME.

Brenda had three siblings: Two brothers John and David Mellor. She was predeceased by her brother David. Her sister, Beverly Pevy lives with her husband in West VA.

A calling time will be held at the Congregational Church of Hooksett, 5 Veterans Drive, Hooksett on Thursday July 24th from 9:30 to 10:00am, followed by a service in the church at 10:00am. The people of Hooksett Congregational Church will offer a light luncheon to attending family and friends.

Burial will follow in the NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen at 1:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Brenda’s memory to the Hooksett Congregational Church “Memorial Fund”.
