After a long, well-lived life, Brenda Gebhardt died on December 28, 2020 at Carlyle Place in Bedford, NH, her home for the past 1 ½ years. She was born on November 28, 1925 in Watertown, MA where she lived until her marriage to Joseph Gebhardt, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage until his death in 2011. Together they built their first home and raised their two children in Wayland, MA.
They settled in Bedford NH in 2001, where they became active in St. Elizabeth Seton Parish, serving as greeters and members of the morning coffee group. Brenda was an active member of the SES Woman's Guild, her Dominoes club and the Bedford ladies knitting group. She was also active in the many activities at Carlyle Place. Her family is grateful for the friendships made and the caring staff at Carlyle Place.
Brenda is survived by her daughter, Christine and her husband Michael Kelley of Hollis, NH and her son Jay (Joseph, Jr) and his wife Elise of Natick, MA. She dearly loved her grandchildren: Elizabeth Kelley Johnson and her husband Matthew, Brendan Kelley and his wife Shaina, Karl Gebhardt and his wife Leann, and Christopher Gebhardt and his wife Erika. She was predeased by her granddaughter Melissa Kelley. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Connor, Kaelee, Brooks and Selah.
A private burial service will be held on January 6, 2021 at NH Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen NH, where she will be buried with her husband Joseph. A memorial mass will be held in the late spring at St Elizabeth Seton Parish in Bedford, NH. Contributions in Brenda's name can be made to The Nashua Center, 12 Simon Street, Nashua NH 03061, an organization dedicated to serving adults and children with intellectual and physical disabilities that she has supported for many years.
