Brian Paul Poulin, cherished son, brother and friend, passed away unexpectedly on March 12, 2024. Born May 9, 1973, Brian was the loving son of Florent and Francine Poulin and dear brother of Harold Poulin and Jenny (Poulin) Bronson.

Brian grew up in Brookfield and Southbury, Connecticut, where he and his siblings enjoyed an idyllic childhood filled with the adventures of fort-building, frog-catching, fishing, snowmobiling and ATV-riding. The family took trips to Canada several times a year to visit extended family, and Canada would always retain a special place in Brian’s heart. His happiest times were those he spent in Canada as a child and later when he visited as an adult with his friends as well as his wife at the time, Eileen, and their beloved dog Maggie. Brian had a wonderful sense of humor and always loved joking, laughing and sharing stories with his favorite uncles and aunts around the campfire.

Brian was a naturally gifted athlete–much to the dismay of his brother and sister, who though older than he, could never outplay him in any sport he picked up. He played baseball, soccer and hockey in youth leagues, and hockey and tennis at Immaculate High School in Danbury, from which he graduated in 1992. He was an avid fan of New England sports teams.

Brian attended the University of Maine at Orono and went on to work in the environmental services field for many years. He was highly regarded for his strong work ethic and his keen intelligence. He had the mind of an engineer, and could intuitively fix and assemble things just by tinkering with them. Brian was also deeply passionate about the things he believed in, and his quiet strength of character drew people to him.

As a compassionate and thoughtful person, Brian always had a kind word and a friendly greeting for his neighbors. Animals loved him, and he never failed to collect a steady stream of animal friends no matter where he was. Though he did not own a dog himself in recent years, he extended gestures of thoughtfulness to the dogs and their owners in the building where he lived, such as clearing a path in the snow for them in the winter.

In addition to his parents and siblings, Brian is survived by his brother-in-law Paul Bronson and his niece Kate and nephew Luke, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. The family plans to hold a private memorial for Brian in Canada in early summer.

You are gone from us too soon, Brian. We will cherish our memories of you and your beautiful heart for the rest of our days.

Anyone wishing to commemorate Brian is asked to make a memorial donation to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in his name, a gesture that would honor his compassionate spirit and his love of animals. Donations can be made by visiting aspca.org/ways-to-give, then clicking Memorial and Honor Gifts.
