Carol A. (Nelson) Fleming, 64, of Manchester died May 27, 2004 in her residence after a brief illness.

Born in Littleton on October 11, 1939, she was the daughter of Waldo and Florence (Shufelt) Nelson. She grew up in Franconia and graduated from Dow Academy. She then lived in Massachusetts for many years before moving to Manchester 27 years ago.

She earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from St. Anselm College in Manchester and a master's degree from Harvard Graduate School in Cambridge, MA. She worked as a registered nurse for many years.

Carol was instrumental in establishing the oncology programs at Elliot Hospital and Catholic Medical Center both in Manchester. She had recently been working as a registered nurse at the Masonic Home in Manchester.

IN HER LIFE: She enjoyed the company of her special friends, Jackie and Soc Macrigeanis of Manchester and her beloved poodle, Abby.

The family includes a daughter, Donna M. Fleming of Dunbarton; a brother, Rudolph Nelson of Whitefield; a sister, Barbara Bilodeau of Allenstown; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Encryptment was at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, Manchester.

Memorial donations may be made to VNA Hospice, 1850 Elm St., Manchester 03104.

Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester assisted the family with arrangements.
