Carol J. Gagnon, 65, of Candia died September 26, 2017 at the Elliot Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in New Jersey on March 11, 1952, she was the daughter of Wilbur and Lillian (Wykels) Scherer. As a member of a military family she spent her youth living in a variety of places like New Mexico, Bangor, Maine, Cape Cod and Okinawa, Japan. She eventually settled in New Hampshire and made a home in Candia.
Prior to retirement, she had been employed as a para-professional at Hillside Middle School in Manchester for 15 years. She was excited to spend her retirement relaxing with her husband and family at their beach house on Hampton Beach.
Carol was very active in both her church and local community. As a parishioner of the Parish of the Transfiguration, she facilitated bible study groups and took pride serving as a Eucharistic Minister. She had spent many years also volunteering for the visiting nurses association, focusing her efforts towards supporting family members grieving from loss.
She loved celebrating Christmas time with her family, especially hunting for the perfect stocking stuffer. Her biggest joy in life was being with her family, especially her 2 granddaughters. She will most be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and friend who cherished time with family.
Family members include her husband of 42 years, Antonio "Tony" Gagnon of Candia; her children, Christopher Gagnon of Somersworth, Jessica Maeder and husband Brian of Merrimack, Nicholas Gagnon of Manchester; her grandchildren, Abigail Maeder and Khloe Gagnon; her father, Wilbur Scherer; and sister Paula Uberti.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday, September 30, 2017 in the Parish of the Transfiguration, corner of Kelley and Alsace Streets. Burial will be in the NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, at a later date.
Flowers will be accepted. Donations may be made to the VNA Home, Health, & Hospice Program, 1070 Holt Ave, Unit 4, Manchester, NH 03109.
