Carole S. Tremblay (Schalk), 76, of Merrimack, NH passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 25th at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack in the comfort of her two daughters.
She was born on February 12, 1942 in Stamford, CT to Eric and Hilda (Freise) Schalk.
Carole received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Vermont, and her nursing degree from Norwalk Hospital School of Nursing. She was a dedicated nurse for over 40 years, most recently as the school nurse at Parker Varney Elementary School and prior to that, as an OBGYN nurse at Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinic in Manchester.
She was a devoted parishioner of St. Joseph's Cathedral for numerous years where she was the parish nurse, was active in the choir and was involved in the comfort shawl ministry and senior group. She received great happiness from people, music, playing her violin and spending time with her family. She particularly enjoyed singing in German to her grandchildren who adored her zest for life and her ability to always make them laugh. "Oma" as her grandchildren knew her, German for Grandma, was a true joy to be around.
Family members include daughters Erica M. Tremblay and her husband Frank Culmone of Harvard, MA, and Victoria T. Lipinski and her husband Russ Lipinski of Merrimack, NH; grandchildren Victor Culmone of Harvard, MA, Elise Lipinski of Merrimack, NH, Benedict Lipinski of Merrimack, NH, and Lucia Lipinski of Merrimack, NH.
Carole was predeceased by her husband of 35 years Victor J. Tremblay.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday, July 30, 2018 at St. Joseph Cathedral, 145 Lowell St., corner of Pine St., Manchester, NH. Urn burial followed at Blossom Hill Cemetery, 207 North State St., Concord, NH. A reception in Bedford followed to celebrate Carole's life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Rd. Merrimack, NH in memory of Carole.
